After being dormant since 1975, astronomy is reborn in Abbadia for educational purposes. The telescope is able to make observations. Images could be shown and explanations given on the scientific goals that had been assigned to the telescope: astrometry, the foundation of all astronomical scientific discoveries. Today, astrometry is practiced by observatories in orbit (Hipparcos, Gaia) or automatic telescopes according to principles identical to those that took place in Abbadia. Abbadia's transit circle is now a means of explaining all the scientific process that allows us to explore and know the universe.
Next to the meridian transit circle, other projects are in progress:
